So Far So GOOD

Well this weekend is going good so far. Anytime Ryder sleeps and takes naps for us, it's a good time for everybody haha! We started our morning with a family snuggle in bed after Scot finished feeding Ryder around 4:30 am-(Thankyou Lord for giving me such a helpful husband!)
Then we laid him in his Pack-N-Play so we could eat breakfast.

After breakfast, Scot has spoiled Tucker so bad that he puts a utensil that hasn't been rinsed off yet into the dishwasher so that he gets some of what we're having. (I know this is bad!!)

Once we were ready, we all went grocery shopping and I bought the ingredients to make Paula Dean's marinated pork tenderloin. This will be a challenge as I have never made any type of pork before! I just wanted to try something different and you can't go wrong with any recipe she makes. When we got back home I dressed Ryder in his warm polar bear outfit because he will be staying with his Nana and Paw Paw tonight while Scot and I have a date night and we heard it might snow by tomorrow. He doesn't look too happy but it was probably because he wasn't in the mood for pictures. Well, since all it's doing outside now is raining, I don't know if the weathermen are right or not. They seem to like to blow things out of proportion down here.

We just got back from a FUN date night! Scot and I went shopping for sales and then had dinner at On The Border. It was nice to get out and have some time for ourselves for once and I know that Ryder is safe and having a great time at his Nana & PawPaws. I called to check on him when we got home and could hear him cooing in the background. That's always a good sign! Well, the night is still young so I think that Scot and I are going to relax and enjoy peace and quiet while we can! Hope that everyone is having a nice weekend. It's still raining out here so I'm still not sure about all that snow we're supposed to have.

TGIF!!

Well it was a good night at the Gelinas household. We ate hotdogs from "Chicago Dogs" as our cheat night after being so good all week dieting and working out and man were they good! Ryder decided that he wanted to be a night owl and didnt nap once so we finally decided to put him down for his bedtime around 7:30 because he started getting fussy and just didnt want to eat anymore. He reaches his limit and there's no stopping him! Well who can blame him when he has two stubborn parents haha? Anyways this week was SO long I never thought it would come to an end! Maybe its because of the nasty weather lately, or maybe it's because its the final days of February. Anyways, I hope that we have a great weekend. Scot and I are looking for a nice relaxing weekend and hopefully we will decide more on our search for a church. Well, I gotta run as Ryder is screaming in his crib-

Have a good night!
Love,

Laura

Wonderful Wednesday

I went to my friend Emilie from work's Jewelry Party last night and had a blast! I ended up buying two necklaces and getting one free. Who doesn't love a good sale? When I came home, Ryder was sound asleep and Scot was waiting for me to watch tv together. We had a good conversation that led to today's post. After a good nights rest last night, I knew that today would be a great day! This is in part because the past week I have had an annoying cough that has kept me (and Scot) awake all night and secondly Ryder seems to be stuck in a late night feeding pattern and isn't sleeping through the night anymore. . I woke up today refreshed and began thinking about the conversation Scot and I had last night. I had mentioned to Scot that God had been weighing down on me about the fact that it had been since Christmas Eve service that we had been to Church and how we really needed to get Ryder baptized and make a decision about what church family we wanted to be a part of. It seems that we made every excuse possible as to why we hadn't been going. When we did go, we seemed to try different churches, as if we were "shopping" for the right fit. Eventually that lead to us not attending any. I also told Scot that I wanted to be part of a couples Sunday School so that we could meet other couples like us, and it would encourage us to go each weekend. After our talk last night, and after praying about it, I feel much better and hope that God answers our prayers to lead us in the right direction of our "church family". Our devotion that we did together was on being content with your life and so I thought that I would show the little guy who means the world to me and truly makes my life complete.
To go along with my post, this is the "wonderful" little face that I got to wake up to this morning. I hope that everyone is having a good week!

Well its the last Sunday of the month which means March is fastly approaching! It also means that my brother and his fiancee will be getting married in a little over a month. My mom and I attended the Bridal Shower for Tori that was in Simpsonville, SC, a little town outside of Greenville. It was at a cute little tea house called "Elegant Gourmet" where we snacked on tea sandwiches and drank flavored teas.. yummy! There was even a chocolate fountain to dip your strawberries and poundcake!
We are so happy that my brother Eric found a wonderful soulmate to share his life with and to join our family. I always wanted a sister and it looks like I get my wish! Tori is sweet and funny and lots of fun to be around and I couldn't be happier to call her my sister in law. We all had a fun time and Tori and Eric got a lot of awesome gifts.

Well, I just got home after being gone most of the day and I need to relieve my awesome husband from taking care of Ryder all day. Hope that you all had a great weekend and I'll talk with you soon.

-Goodnight!
Laura

Birthdays & Babies

Check out Ryder's rosy cheeks
My mom, Ryder, & my stepdad- Happy Birthday Jeff !!
We celebrated Saturday night by going out to eat with my mom and stepdad, Jeff for his birthday at Fratelli's Italian restaurant. I had the Eggplant Parmesan (which I am proud to say I only ate half) and Scot ordered the Italian sausage and pepperoni Pizza-delicious! We all had a great time and Ryder was good for the most part until he reached his limit and then came his meltdown on the ride home. Poor thing had a blowout and we couldn't get home to change him fast enough..but finally we got there and he was much better once he was changed and fed. I'm hoping with all the action of today that it will get him to sleep through the night. If he doesn't, we are in for a LONG night!! So here is my Question for the night.. what is your favorite Italian dish?? Mine would have to be Eggplant Parm obviously!

Good Afternboon Everyone!
Hope that you all are having a wonderful weekend. Well it has been a very eventful day so far! We took Ryder to get his 3month portraits taken this morning because I just couldn't stand not having them done yet. I waited as long as I could, and finally I gave in. With intentions of spending $50 with our Sears coupon, we ended up spending about twice that! But who could resist this little camera ham?? I told Scot I'm gonna have to get a second job to support my portrait budget after Ryder did so good! It was hard to choose just one. We were there about an hr, but after that Ryder had enough, so we left and were thrilled with the pictures we left with! I must say that Scot did a good job too and did a "Glamour Shot" pose with me, as he calls it. Well, we are off to go eat dinner with my parents in honor of Jeff's birthday...so stay tuned!

3 Months Old and Holding

It's Bathtime! The start to our routine..
Daddy usually gives me my baths
and we wait for Mommy to get home from workHappy boy ready for lotionToday is Ryder's 3-Month Birthday! I can't believe how fast time goe s by. Everyone tells you when you are pregnant that once the baby is born, enjoy it because it will go by unbelieveably fast. I never believed it until I began going through it myself! However, when the newborn is crying, all you can think is "when will this end" haha. So far I am thinking that he MUST be going through yet another growth spurt because the past two nights he was up every few hrs to eat. There's no denying that he's my son with the way he likes to eat! Just when you think he's sleeping through the night, he throws a curve ball.

I took him to my office yesterday since I was off, after running some errands, and he was on his BEST behavior! I think he had a good time because he was awake the whole time I was there and got passed around by all the girls. He's a flirt already!! The minute we got in the car, he was screaming bloody murder for about 2minutes and then he passed out, snoring like a little piggy.

I booked an appt for him to get his pictures made this Saturday. I can't wait!! I have been telling Scot for months now that I wanted to get his picture made, but Scot being the logical one in the marriage explained that we should wait until he's at least smiling, so we figured that now he's giving off this little crooked snare, its worth a try.

Well guys, thats it for now! I just took a few quick pictures when we got home from daycare so enjoy! We kind of have him in a routine (and to get the "daycare germs" off) from when he gets home he gets a warm bath and then changed into his nighttime clothes followed by a warm bottle in hopes that he will sleep! Have a good night everyone!!

Visitors for the Day

A family portrait
Aunt Sandi taking a turn feeding Ryder Uncle Tobey gets some Ryder!
We had such a good visit this past weekend from Scot's aunt Sandi & uncle Tobey! They drove down all the way from NH to come meet the newest addition of the family. Ryder wanted to show off his Boston Red Sox shirt that they had sent him, so he was dressed for the occasion. We took them to Red Rocks for lunch and I broke down and ordered the meatloaf, yummo!! I guess I will get back to salads next week but for now I just wanted to enjoy a great meal. Ryder started off in a grumpy mood, thanks to getting milk that was too hot (Scot!!) but was smiley and happy later on. I told everyone that they would be seeing the many faces of Ryder haha. We had great weather so we walked around Birkdale after and they were happy to have left all the snow and ice behind them!

The loves of my life-my 2 men

This is what LOVE is all about

Happy Valentines Day!
I decided to dedicate this post to the ones that I love since its a day of "Love". Let me start out by saying that my sweet husband Scot had planned a night on the town for us tonight, complete with dinner at Morton's Steakhouse and then we would stay at the Marriott uptown Charlotte for the night, including babysitting overnight at my parents. Needless to say, my mom called me yesterday to say that she and my stepdad were sick. Plans got cancelled and it looks like the three of us (4 including my Yorkie Tucker) will be staying in tonight curled up watching movies. Who needs a fancy night out anyways right?? Well I woke up this morning to three Valentines Day cards waiting for me, one from each of my "boys" and 3 heart shaped "scratch offs" for fun.

Since I titled this post "The Ones I love" I will go ahead and introduce you to my best friend I married, Scot. We have been together 4 years and married for 2. He is my rock and my strength, and my support and on days when I need a good laugh, he's there to make jokes. He was also the one who pulled me back into my walk of faith. I grew up with a strong belief in God and always went to Church and youth group, but as I entered my 20's and my parents had divorced, I felt alone, and started slipping. Then I met Scot and he changed all of that.

Next in line is my sweetheart and love of my life, Ryder. He will be 3 months old next week and I can hardly believe it! For the most part, he is a great baby, who is starting to give off this little crooked smile when he's full and content. We are starting to figure each other out and I think he's happy here. Things are definitely getting easier than the first 2 months! WHEW! (I can't believe I'm admitting this but I don't think I could go back to those first few weeks easily) LOTS of late nights, LOTS of crying both from him AND me haha. But God got me through it! Now we can laugh about those early weeks and be thankful that we are getting some sleep now and are raising our son together.

The Beginning to Blogging and the End to Pumping

Okay so this is my very first post because I'm new to the "blogging" world, so bare with me! I have been on Facebook and Myspace for years, but after following my friend Emilie's blog and a few others, I decided to give blogging a try.

Let me start by introducing myself! My name is Laura and I am a mid twenty something wife to an amazing man named Scot, and I am a new mommy to Ryder David. I also have to mention that I have a very spoiled fur baby Yorkie named Tucker, who is having a hard time adjusting to his new baby brother. I have a great family and am very close to my mom, step-dad and older brother, all who live nearby. In fact, my mom was the one who started calling me "Lulie" from the time I was a little girl, and I guess it just kinda stuck, which is where the title to my blog came from. Anyways, my husband's parents live in FL and the rest of his family live in NH where he's from.

For starters, it's a GREAT day because it's Friday, and second of all, it's the day I have decided to give up breastfeeding/pumping. I guess I need to backup for those of you that don't know me, but as I mentioned before, I am a new mom to Ryder David Gelinas, born November 18, 2008. He has been the BEST blessing I could have ever asked for! I was a pumping machine for the weeks I was out on Maternity Leave. I mean I was pumping 10 oz at every session at least 8-10 times a day just because I wanted to build up my "supply" for when I started back to work. Sadly, the weeks flew by and I have been back at my job for the past 3 weeks and my supply just isn't what it used to be, so I am at the point now that my son is almost 3 months old, and I have enough frozen that I woke up this morning ready to stop the pumping! It's bittersweet because it was such a bonding experience, but at the same time I am ready to have the freedom not to be attached to a machine! (I'm sure you other mommy's out there can relate)

Well, I will be posting much more as I get more comfortable with how this all works, and I do hope that you all find you have something in common with me, even if its meeting people! Thankyou for taking the time to read my post :)
